Before You Call: The Reset Protocol
One proper reset first — always.
Universal Reset Protocol (Try First)
- Note the code. Photograph the display — codes can clear on reset and we’ll want to know which one appeared.
- Breaker off, 60 seconds. Flip the oven’s breaker fully OFF, wait a full minute, flip back ON. This clears transient faults.
- Reset the clock. Many ovens won’t heat until the clock is set after a power cycle.
- Test one function. Try Bake at 350°F. If the code returns immediately, it’s a hard fault — stop resetting and call us.
- Don’t repeat endlessly. Three failed resets = real failure. Repeated power-cycling won’t fix a bad sensor or board.
LG Error Code FAQs
Quick answers for LG owners.
What does F19 mean on my LG oven? Is it dangerous?
F19 means the oven overheated past safe limits — usually a relay stuck closed on the board. Stop using the oven until it’s fixed; the board runs $150–$600. It’s the one LG code to take seriously.
My LG oven shows F9 after cleaning. What do I do?
F9 = door lock failure. Let it cool completely, then reset once. Still locked? Don’t force it — $120–$300 for the latch. See our stuck-door guide.
Can I reset my LG oven without the breaker?
Some LG models clear transient codes with a 3-second press of Clear/Off — but the breaker method is more reliable and works on every model. Use the breaker.
My LG shows F24. What’s that?
F24 is a touch/key error on the control panel — the electronic cousin of a stuck key. Reset once; persistent F24 means the touch assembly ($150–$400).
Do LG error codes always mean a broken part?
No — power blips throw transient F-codes regularly, which is why the reset protocol comes first. A code that survives a proper reset, though, is telling the truth about a failed part.
