Reset

Before You Call: The Reset Protocol

One proper reset rules out every transient fault.

Universal Reset Protocol (Try First)

  • Note the code. Photograph the display — codes can clear on reset and we’ll want to know which one appeared.
  • Breaker off, 60 seconds. Flip the oven’s breaker fully OFF, wait a full minute, flip back ON. This clears transient faults.
  • Reset the clock. Many ovens won’t heat until the clock is set after a power cycle.
  • Test one function. Try Bake at 350°F. If the code returns immediately, it’s a hard fault — stop resetting and call us.
  • Don’t repeat endlessly. Three failed resets = real failure. Repeated power-cycling won’t fix a bad sensor or board.
FAQs

Whirlpool Error Code FAQs

Quick answers for Whirlpool owners.

What does F1E0 mean on my Whirlpool oven?

F1E0 is a control-board failure — the board’s self-test failed. One reset is worth trying; a returning F1E0 means board replacement ($150–$600).

My Whirlpool shows F2E0. Is the keypad dead?

F2E0 means the keypad disconnected from the board — sometimes just a loose ribbon cable (reseat + reset fixes it), sometimes a dead keypad ($150–$350). We check the connection first.

What’s the difference between F3E0 and F3E1?

F3E0 = sensor circuit open or shorted; F3E1 = sensor reading out of expected range (drifting). Both end at a $100–$350 sensor — we meter-test to confirm.

My Whirlpool shows F6E0. What does that mean?

F6E0 is a communication fault between boards (common on double ovens with two control boards). It needs board-level diagnosis — The diagnostic covers it.

Can I clear Whirlpool error codes myself?

Transient codes: yes, with the 60-second breaker reset. Hard faults (returning codes): no — the part has failed. Three strikes and it’s a repair call: (971) 399-8141.
